New Bar To Be Built In Former New London Cafe Space
The space formerly occupied by Ernie's Café in New London is set to be replaced by a new restaurant.
NEW LONDON, CT — The space formerly occupied by Ernie’s Café is set to be replaced by a new bar operated by two first-time restaurateurs, the New London Day reported. The Bank Street location is set to be renovated by a developer who previously completed two downtown rehabilitation projects.
The Day describes Ernie’s Café as a beloved watering hole with a somewhat gritty history, including at least three shootings that occurred in or around the bar between 2004 and 2007.
The pair currently is planning to serve up American fusion cuisine at their new family-friendly restaurant, Bar on Bank, which will incorporate some Latin and Asian elements, according to the New London Day. They also hope to open by April.
