The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The need for a strategic plan; New London needs the support of people from outside of New London to thrive. New London must feel comfortable so more people are willing to visit, invest, and move here. A strategic plan will define what New London should and can be and lay out the steps needed to achieve that goal. I intend to seek the support of fellow councilors and the Mayor in developing this strategic plan.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I consider myself analytical and logical. When weighing options, I am most comfortable when I have all pertinent facts and am able to critically consider them. I also keep an open mind and am willing to listen to all view points before making a decision.

List other issues that define your campaign platform:

Get back to work on developing the Fort Trumbull area; ensure that the Magnet School District Plan is developed properly and implemented effectively; initiate Charter Revision to clarify or enforce misunderstood or ignored provisions; establish financial visibility so all stakeholders understand how the City spends money; evaluate the current status of the USCG Museum project and ensure that it is completed properly.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

- Former New London City Councilor (2007-2013) and previous Deputy Mayor
- Native and nearly life-long resident of New London
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer
- Engineering Supervisor at Electric Boat and CT licensed Professional Engineer
- Member, Board of Directors of Higher Edge College Access Program
- Member, St. Joseph Parish Pastoral Council
- Private Pilot and Mission Pilot for the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol
- Former mentor, NLHS STEM Whalers Robotics Team (No. 3719)

The best advice ever shared with me was …

"Don't go to bed angry." This advice is great for marriages since it encourages talking out problems, but also generally for life since it reminds me to either resolve an issue before it can take a toll or set it aside until I have the resources to resolve it.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

In 2013 I decided not to run for re-election to the New London City Council since my daughters were reaching their teen years and I thought it be best to pour as much time as possible into being their father at such a critical time in their lives. They are both now in college and timing is such to allow a return to New London government, if voters will have me back.
