New London Convenience Store Owner Busted Over Fake Tests: PD
The owner of a New London convenience store has been arrested on charges that he was selling fake coronavirus tests.
NEW LONDON, CT — A convenience store owner was arrested on charges of selling fake COVID-19 tests, according to police. Hussein Alyelsherif, 43, of Waterford, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and criminal attempt at fifth-degree larceny.
Police said they began investigation of a 7-Eleven at 283 Broad St. selling COVID-19 home self-test kits for $39.99 each. Police followed up with public health officials who determined the kits were not valid or approved.
Police seized more than 30 of the kits from the store.

Alyelsherif was also charged with possession of untaxed tobacco after police said they found 27 boxes of untaxed cigars at the store.
