New London Council Approves Significant Mayoral Pay Raise: Report
The council has approved a pay hike that will place New London's next mayor among the highest-paid in the state.
NEW LONDON, CT — The City Council approved a substantial raise for the city's next mayor, according to The New London Day. The council unanimously approved a proposal Monday that will increase the next mayor's pay by 45% to $160,000.
Current Mayor Michael Passero earns $110,000 per year. The raise would put the mayor's salary among the highest in the state, close to what mayors make in the state's largest cities, Hartford, Bridgeport, and New Haven.
The new salary will take effect when a new mayor is elected in 2023.
