New London Firefighters Deliver Baby During Ice Storm
One couple's trip to the hospital was cut short early Thursday morning.

NEW LONDON, CT - This winter storm will be unforgettable for at least one family. New London Firefighters reported that a local family delivered a baby boy on Huntington Street in the early hours of Thursday morning.
New London Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 4:13 a.m. from a New London couple reporting the possible birth of their new born while driving to L+M Hospital.
The 911 call was received by New London Dispatcher Rich Waselik, who police said immediately put the family at ease and talked the couple through the delivery of their baby boy.

Firefighters arrived shortly afterwards to transport the family to L+M Hospital.
"Congratulations to the NL family on their new addition!" police said in a statement "Dispatcher Waselik has been a dispatcher with the City of New London for 16 years. He is also a EMT and a volunteer fire fighter with the Oakdale Fire Department. Awesome job Rich Waselik! Your commitment to service and professionalism was truly on display!"
