New London Grants To Pay For Summer Camp Scholarships
A new grant will allow the city to offer scholarships and lower the price of summer camp.

NEW LONDON, CT — The New London Recreation Department is excited to announce that through the State of Connecticut, Expansion Grant, the City is now able to offer scholarships and lower the price of summer camp for this summer!
The Summer Playground Program will operate out of the BP Learned Mission building and Bates Woods Park site. Both sites received $48,555 in grant funding which will be applied to reduce the cost of camp for all participants, offer enrichment activities, cover new field trip opportunities, offer social emotional programming onsite, cover swimming lessons and new swim equipment for all children, and offer the children a chance to see their teachers over the summer through a unique programming opportunity.

Camp has been reduced to $35 for residents per week with before and after care being reduced to $15 per week. Nonresidents who would like to attend will pay $60 per week. This program will also partner with New England Science and Sailing to offer exciting program opportunities such as sailing, kayaking, marine science, recycling lessons, and more!
