New London Housing Director Files Discrimination Complaint

NEW LONDON, CT – The executive director of the New London Housing Authority has filed a complaint against the city and more on the grounds of discrimination, The Day reported.

Sue Shontell filed a complaint with the state on Oct. 18 against the city and the Housing Authority’s board of commissioners, according to The Day. The complaint asserts charges of ongoing harassing, threatening and intimidating behavior.

Shontell claims the behavior is due to her sexual orientation, The Day reported. She also claims that at least one board member has made verbal threats against her job and degrading remarks in front of staff.
