New London Man Arrested on Multiple Stolen Weapons, Ammunition Charges

NEW LONDON, CT - A New London man was arrested for his alleged connection to the theft of dozens of firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition, according to a release.
Stonington police received a report early Monday morning involving the theft of firearms (two pistols and one assault rifle), hundreds of rounds of ammunition, five high capacity rifle magazines and fifteen high capacity pistol magazines, according to a release.
Officers subsequently located David Johnson, 28, of New London during a motor vehicle stop near Broad Street in New London. Further investigation found the suspect was in possession of the stolen weapons and ammunition.

Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of an assault weapon and risk of injury to a minor.
Johnson is a multi-state convicted felon, who is being held on $200,000 cash surety bond. Police are still investigating the situation.
