New London Man Clocked Going 108 MPH: State Police

The man told a trooper he was "in a rush to get home" and was charged with reckless driving.

NEW LONDON, CT — A New London man was charged with reckless driving after state police say he was going 108 mph.

A trooper was conducting speed enforcement on Route 2 in Marlborough on Friday at 3:13 p.m. when he spotted a blue BMW speeding in a 65-mph zone. The trooper clocked the car going 108 mph.

After the trooper stopped the car, the driver told the trooper that he was "in a rush to get home to New London," according to state police.

The driver, a 21-year-old New London man, was charged with reckless driving and operating under suspension.

He was released on $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Jan. 14.
