1 Killed, New London Man Seriously Injured In Fiery Crash

A passenger was killed and a man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident in Lisbon on Monday night, state police said.

LISBON, CT — A passenger was killed and a man suffered serious injuries in a crash and vehicle fire in Lisbon on Monday night, according to state police.

The 34-year-old New London man was driving a 2000 Dodge Ram Wagon at 10:19 p.m. when the accident occurred between exits 18 and 19 on I-395 North.

The Dodge ran off the side of the road and hit a bridge abutment on an overpass. A fire started, and the vehicle was engulfed in flames, state police said.

The passenger, Anjelly Berrios, 33, of Plainfield, was declared dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver was taken to Backus Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded and is investigating the crash.
