New London Middle School Named CT's Middle School of the Year
The school earned the award due to its strong leadership, positive learning environment and academic success, according to a statement.
NEW LONDON, CT — Bennie Dover Jackson Multi-Magnet Middle School Campus was named the Connecticut Association of Schools' Middle School of the Year for 2026.
The recognition was highlighted during the May 26 New London Public Schools Board of Education meeting, where dignitaries honored the school for its achievements in academics, leadership and student support.
Among those recognizing the accomplishment were Connecticut Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, who presented an official statement of congratulations, and New London Mayor Michael E. Passero, who issued a proclamation honoring the school.

State Rep. Anthony Nolan also praised the school in a social media statement following the event.
"Proud to celebrate this week with the community the incredible students, educators, staff, and school leaders across New London Public Schools who were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and achievements," Nolan wrote.
