New London NAACP Vice President to Receive Community Activism Award

She will receive the award during a ceremony at the state Capitol.

NEW LONDON, CT – Norwich’s chief probation officer and Vice President of the NAACP New London chapter will be awarded Thursday night, The Day reported.

Tamara Lanier is to be honored with the Maria Colón Sánchez Award for Community Activism, according to The Day. Lanier will be awarded among other civil rights leaders by the state Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.

She will receive the award during a ceremony in the Old Judiciary Room at the state Capitol taking place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., The Day reported. Lanier is also the criminal justice chairwoman of the state NAACP.
