New London Nonprofits To Receive State Funds

Local nonprofits will be awarded money via a state program.

NEW LONDON, CT - Local nonprofits will receive more than $450,000 in state funds for addiction recovery services and group home repairs, according to a statement from Gov. Dannel Malloy. The funds are part of $30.8 million in state grants being awarded to 92 nonprofits across the state through the Nonprofit Grant Program.

The following nonprofits will receive funds:

  • New London – Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut, Inc.: $68,479 (Playground renovation early childhood development center)
  • New London – Safe Futures, Inc.: $249,040 (Emergency domestic violence shelter – improving accessibility through renovation of kitchen, first floor bathroom, and widening of first floor door; HVAC replacement; replacement of windows and repair of water-dam)
  • New London – The Lighthouse Voc Ed Center Inc: $156,444 (Rooftop unit and lighting renovations, wheelchair van acquisition)

“Connecticut’s nonprofit organizations serve every resident of Connecticut and play a substantial role in maintaining our safety net,” Malloy said in a statement “Partnering with them is a smart fiscal investment to ensure that they can continue to provide services while doing so in an efficient, cost-effective way. By supporting capital purchases that enhance the delivery, efficiency, and effectiveness of the services they provide, these nonprofit organizations can focus their attention on what they do best – getting services to those who need them most.”
