New London - "The Perfect Film Location" for The Missing Girl

New London was the chosen location for the film The Missing Girl. This isn't the first time the city has been chosen for a film's location.

Found in between New York City and Boston, the quaint waterfront city of New London was the chosen location for the film, The Missing Girl. This did not came as a surprise because the city has been the chosen location of many movies in the past like The Bronx is Burning and Yours, Mine, and Ours.

The Missing Girl, is a character-driven drama regarding an owner of a comic book shop who tries to connect with a girl who works on his shop. By the time she leaves town to have her job interview, the owner of the shop eventually jumps into a conclusion that she is in great danger.

Many of the crews of the movie came from New London. Although there was a scene that was shot in Brooklyn, New York, but it is safe that almost all of the film was shot within New London. Even the action scenes were shot within the city. The filming locations manager said that he is very happy that they are representing New London as New London; hence they were totally comfortable during filming. They were also happy to represent New London, especially its ethnic and economic diversity.

If you have seen the film, you know that some of the filming locations were New London City Hall, Monica’s State Street Diner, Crocker House, Union Station, Zambala Grocery Store, Methodist Street Apartment, and within two houses in Montauk Avenue. So what made the whole cast choose New London as the filming location for The Missing Girl? The director said that it was because almost all of the crew were from the said area, plus he loves the nostalgic look of the waterfront city. On the other hand, the New London community were very happy to have the film shot at their place. In fact, the whole people in New London, including their businesses, were very supportive to the crews.
