New London Police Arrest Teen Charged in Car Versus Scooter Incident

NEW LONDON, CT - Police said they are investigating a car versus scooter incident that occurred early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 12:18 a.m., New London police and fire personnel were dispatched to the area of Route 32 South to investigate reports of a scooter accident with injuries.
The male scooter operator was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. He was subsequently transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The operator of the car, Sophia Thielman, 19, of Rye Brook, N.Y. and a Connecticut College student was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Route 32 South at Benham Avenue was closed following the incident.
