New London Police Department Earns Tier 1 Reaccreditation Status

The New London Police Department achieved Tier 1 Reaccreditation status by the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council.

NEW LONDON, CT — The New London Police Department achieved Tier 1 Reaccreditation status by the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council, according to a statement.

The Connecticut Police Accreditation program is designed to “enhance (the) professionalism of Connecticut Law Enforcement Agencies through compliance with contemporary, internationally recognized standards of excellence.”

Connecticut State Accreditation is a process through which the state's law enforcement agencies "demonstrate excellence in management and service delivery by complying with State Accreditation Standards," according to a statement. Tier I State Accreditation consists of 123 standards.

State accreditation indicates a department’s commitment to accountability, transparency, quality services, and professional excellence.

"The New London Police Department takes great pride in adhering to best practices since our initial accreditation in 2011," the statement reads. "As part of our dedication to our community, we are proud to comply with the high standards that bring transparency, accountability, and professionalism to the New London Police Department. We are committed and dedicated to garnering the trust and respect of our residents and community stakeholders in our highly diverse and inclusive community."
