New London Police Investigate Death Of Groton Woman

A woman was found unresponsive in a parking lot recently. She later died and police are investigating.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police found an unresponsive woman in a parking lot about a week ago. She has since died and her identity has been released.

Police and firefighters responded to a call June 21 at 10:47 p.m. reporting an injured woman in the parking lot of 48 Ocean Ave. in New London.

Emergency responders arrived and provided medical aid to the woman, who was found "bleeding and unresponsive," according to police.

She was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Police said in an update Monday that the woman has died. She was identified as Lindsay Melher, 46, of Groton.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of her death.

The circumstances around her death have not been released.

Police said the investigation into the death is ongoing.
