New London Police K9 Bessie Passes At Age 13

NEW LONDON, CT — All dogs go the heaven, they say. There's probably a special welcome for police and fire dogs.

Good dog and thank you for your service, Bessie.

And deepest condolences to her whole police family, but especially Officer Jeff Nichols. The two were partners for almost five years.

"It is with great sadness that the New London Police Department announces the passing of retired NLPD K9 Bessie (13 years old).Bessie retired on 2/1/18 after 7 ½ years of service to the citizens of New London. K9 Bessie was partnered with Officer Jeff Nichols from November of 2013 to retirement in February of 2018.Thank you for your dedicated service to the citizens of New London and your New London Police K9 Family, Bessie.
