New London Police Officer Demoted Due To Complaint: Report
A New London police officer has been demoted following a complaint of sexism, and the police union has filed a grievance in response.
NEW LONDON, CT — A New London police officer has been demoted following investigation of a complaint from a female officer about institutional sexism within the department, The New London Day reported. Lt. Jeffrey Kalolo was demoted from lieutenant to sergeant for a minimum of one year.
Officer Melissa Schafranski-Broadbent filed a complaint alleging harassment by a superior officer, inappropriate treatment, a hostile work environment, and other violations.
The police union condemned Kalolo's demotion and has filed a grievance.
