NEW LONDON, CT — The city has launched an investigation into a police sergeant's claim that he was discriminated against, according to The Day. Sgt. Cornelius "Neil" Rodgers has filed a complaint with the state he was treated unfairly and disciplined because of his race.

The city has brought in a lawyer specializing in workplace investigations to look into the allegations.

Rodgers faced a 20-day suspension earlier this year for punching a handcuffed prisoner in 2019, The Day reported.
