New London Police Officers To Be Honored For 'Selfless, Heroic Acts'

Two New London police officers will be honored in a ceremony next week for saving lives in an I-95 crash.

NEW LONDON, CT — The police department will honor two officers for their "selfless and heroic acts." Lt. Cornelius Rodgers and Brandon Bylo are being recognized for their response when a tanker truck and car collided on the Gold Star Bridge I-95 Southbound in Groton on April 21.

Rodgers and Bylo "displayed extreme heroism, character, and a relentless life-saving commitment under enormously challenging conditions," according to a department statement.

A ceremony to honor them will be held Monday, May 8 at the Garde Arts Theater at 8 p.m.
