New London Police Sergeant Suspects Coworkers Of Vandalism
A New London police sergeant said his car was vandalized after he filed a complaint regarding racism in the department.
NEW LONDON, CT — A police sergeant has filed a report that his fellow officers vandalized his car after he made allegations regarding institutional racism within the department, according to The Day.
The day after an article appeared in The Day about the allegations, Rodgers filed a "suspicious incident" report in which his vehicle had been pepper sprayed.
Initially, the city launched an investigation in April after Sgt. Cornelius "Neil" Rodgers filed a complaint with the state he was treated unfairly and disciplined because of his race.

Rodgers faced a 20-day suspension earlier this year for punching a handcuffed prisoner in 2019. Rodgers, who said he acted to defend himself and fellow officers, argued that white officers have received lesser penalties for similar actions, The Day reported.
