New London Resident Charged With Selling Drugs: Police

A New London resident is facing charges following a lengthy police investigation into drug sales at a State Street apartment building.

NEW LONDON, CT — A New London resident was charged with selling drugs Monday, according to police. Stephanie Monteiro, 57, of New London, was charged with two counts of sale of narcotics and sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.

Police made the arrest Monday morning "after a lengthy investigation into narcotics sales in the Mohican Apartment building located at 281 State St.," according to a police statement.

The investigation was sparked by numerous complaints police received about drug sales in the building.

Monteiro was held on $150,000 bond and appeared in New London Superior Court on Wednesday.
