New London School District’s Riverside Park Proposal Rejected by State

The state has informed the school district that it does not the proposed project.

NEW LONDON, CT – The state said it has rejected to fund the school district’s proposal to link Riverside Park to the Winthrop Magnet Elementary School, The Day reported.

The proposed $1.9 million project would have required state funding, according to The Day. The district had tried to tie the project to the $28.7 million Winthrop reconstruction project, using leftover state funds.

City officials, however, do not plan to give up on the plan, according to The Day. A delegation has been formed to go to the state and explain the importance of the plan for the school.
