New London Schools Announce Delay for Thursday, Jan. 8

Due to severe cold, New London schools are operating under a two-hour delay on Thursday, Jan. 8.

Local Forecast

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory and hazardous weather outlook.

• Wednesday Night, Jan. 7: Mostly clear, with a low around 1. Wind chill values between -10 and -15. Northwest wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

• Thursday, Jan. 8: Sunny, with a high near 21. Wind chill values between -5 and -15. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph.

• Thursday Night: A slight chance of snow showers after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to near 19 by 10 p.m., then rising to around 27 during the remainder of the night. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

• Friday, Jan. 9: A chance of snow showers before 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 36. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

• Friday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 18. West wind 9 to 14 mph.
