After deciding against renewing the contract of its existing superintendent of schools, the New London Board of Education met late Tuesday and has come to a consensus on who members want to hire, the New London Day reports.
However, the identity of the preferred candidate remains a mystery for now. The individual is expected to meet with the state Department of Education Commissioner later this week and may even visit the district, the New London Day reports.
It's possible the new hire won't begin until mid July or even August. Contract terms were not specified but it's expected to be a three-year contract, the paper reports.
According to a Patch story from March, the original goal was to hire the new superintendent of schools by May 1 so it could ensure a start date of July 1.
