New London Sixth Grader, 11, Helps Deliver Baby Brother
A New London sixth-grader was recently honored for the bravery she displayed while helping deliver her baby brother.

NEW LONDON, CT - A Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School student was recently honored by the New London Fire Department for bravely helping deliver her baby brother, the New London Day reported. The sixth-grader was called into action after her mother started having contractions on Oct. 24.
After calling her husband who was stuck in traffic, Maruja Solano realized her baby would be coming immediately, according to the New London Day. Her daughter, Angie, then rushed to the aid of her mother, taking a position to catch the infant as its head crowned.
A nervous Angie was able to then give her newborn baby brother to her mother and quickly grabbed blankets to keep the baby safe and warm until an ambulance arrived, the New London Day reported. The baby was then transported to the hospital, and Angie was given a special award Tuesday for her remarkable bravery.
