New London State Senator Announces Reelection Bid
State Sen. Martha Marx (D-New London) announced she will be running for another term.
NEW LONDON, CT — State Sen. Martha Marx (D-New London) announced that she will run for another term. She said that she "plans to keep fighting for the people of Bozrah, East Lyme, Montville, New London, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Salem and Waterford."
Marx touted her accomplishments in making healthcare more affordable, delivering protections for workers, and passing the biggest tax break in the state's history.
“As a career nurse, the one issue that will always be closest to my heart is healthcare,” Marx said in a statement. “During my first term, I fought day in and day out to make options here in Connecticut more affordable and take the needed measures to protect nurses on the job who are working to keep us healthy and safe.”

Marx said that she fought on behalf of consumers against utility companies and brought needed state funds to all eight towns in the district.
"We did this all while focusing on local projects across the district, including funding for brownfield grants in Waterford, a new community and recreation center in New London, the Lyme Senior Center, protected open space in Salem, and so much more,” she said in a statement.

New London Mayor Michael Passero said about Marx: “During her first term, Martha has proven to be a relentless advocate for this district in the senate. By fighting for more affordable healthcare, protecting a woman’s right to choose, and making Connecticut more affordable, she has delivered on her campaign promises and made an invaluable partner for New London in Hartford. I look forward to campaigning for her this year and ensuring she continues the progress she’s made over the past two years.”
Marx has been a resident of New London and a registered nurse for over 30 years. She is also a former New London City Council member.
