New London Submarine Base Gets $50 Million In Funding
A bill has passed that increases municipal aid to Groton and provides $50 million for the New London Naval Submarine Base.

NEW LONDON, CT — The state House of Representatives has approved a comprehensive state bond package that increased Groton's municipal aid municipal aid by $578,949, according to a statement from State Rep. Christine Conley (D-Groton, Ledyard). The bill also allocates $50 million for the Naval Submarine Base New London.
"I am thrilled that funding for Groton was included in this bill," said Rep. Conley. "This funding will not only strengthen the military value of the base, but it illustrates that national security is a priority. Now, we hold the governor accountable for putting this on the bond agenda to alleviate the property tax burden on our neighbors."
The allocation included in H.B. No. 5518 will be used to fund ongoing naval operations to enhance the infrastructure of the base. The town of Ledyard will continue to receive $421,085 in Grants for Municipal Projects.
