New London Woman Illegally Performed Medical Procedures: Police
A New London woman performed cosmetic medical procedures without a license from her home, according to police.

NEW LONDON, CT — A New London woman is accused of performing illegal cosmetic medical procedures out of her home, police said.
Sofia Rodriguez-Lopez, 45, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and practicing medicine without a license, which is a felony, according to police.
She was arrested Jan. 9 and her bond was set at $75,000, police said.

Police initially received a complaint July 1 stating that Rodriguez-Lopez was performing medical procedures at her Lincoln Avenue home that were "cosmetic in type."
Police investigated and executed a search warrant. The state Department of Health assisted with the investigation, which remains active.

Lipolysis, a fat-reducing procedure, was among the medical procedures she allegedly performed, according to The Day of New London. Police found she had medical equipment and machines at her home.
She was not licensed to perform any medical procedures and did not have a license to use the home as a business, The Day reported.
She was arraigned Friday and released on a promise to appear in New London Superior Court on Feb. 6, according to online court records.
