New London Woman Charged With DUI In Serious Injury Crash: Police

Police arrested a woman for drunk driving after a car crash that left a passenger with serious injuries.

NEW LONDON, CT — A woman is accused of driving while under the influence after a car crash left a passenger with serious injuries, police said. Police and firefighters responded to 457 Ocean Ave. at 2:05 a.m. Sunday for a report of a one-car crash.

Police said they determined that the car left the road and struck a concrete staircase attached to a residential building. The front-seat passenger was extricated from the car and transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, police said. The passenger was later transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment, where they are in stable condition.

The driver, a New London woman, was not injured. She was charged with driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive right. The driver was released on $5,000 bond.
