New London Woman Files Suit Against UConn Health
A city woman says she was the victim of identity fraud.
NEW LONDON, CT - A city woman is filing a lawsuit against the University of Connecticut and UConn Health claiming her identity was stolen, the Journal-Inquirer reported. UConn Health announced Feb. 22 that data such as billing and appointment details for 326,000 patients was compromised, including 1,500 people whose social security numbers were compromised.
Yoselin Martinez claims in the suit that the breach led to fraudulent activity occurring in her bank account due to the university failing to provide adequate cyber security. She also claims that UConn Health has not provided any compensation for the data breach.
