Lawrence + Memorial Hospital will allow elective surgeries as the number of COVID-19 cases drops.
NEW LONDON, CT — Lawrence + Memorial Hospital will restart scheduling elective surgeries as the number of COVID-19 cases has decreased, according to The Day. About 500 of these surgeries have been postponed since mid-March.
A hospital official said they will go ahead with "those that can't wait much longer," including surgeries to improve blood flow to the extremities and those related to cancer. Patients experiencing progressive pain and neurological issues will also be given priority, The Day reported.
