No Agreement on Funding of New London Police Contract
The new police contract would increase the size of the police force to 80 officers.

City councilors have been unable to reach an agreement on how to pay for a new police contract, the Day of New London reports.
On Monday, a measure to fund the contract from a contingency fund failed 3-3, the paper reports. If it had passed, $425,000 would have been transferred from the contingency account. The new police contract, which was approved on Oct. 6 would get the number of officers in the police department up to 80 officers, however the council did not budget for the increases in this contract.
According to the paper, councilors opposed to funding the contract said there was a lack of information on other funding options available. Mayor Daryl Justin Finizio reminded councilors that the name of the contingency fund was misleading.
