NY Woman Charged With Shoplifting Device Crime In East Lyme: Police
A Brooklyn, NY, woman was charged with carrying a shoplifting device at an East Lyme store, according to police.
EAST LYME, CT — A Brooklyn, NY, woman was charged with carrying a shoplifting device at an East Lyme store, according to police. Police received a call Saturday at 6:59 p.m. reporting a suspicious woman at the CVS on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The woman was carrying a large black bag in one of the store's aisles. Police said a recent shoplifting incident at the store involved women walking around with large black bags, which prompted the clerk to contact police.
Officers found the suspect near a business on Hope Street. Further investigation found she was in possession of a shoplifting device designed to defeat a store's antitheft measures.

Shamisha Lee, 42, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a shoplifting device. She was released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear June 10 at New London Superior Court.
