Obituary: Mary P. Venetos, 96, of New London
Mrs. Venetos was a hotelier who, for many years, ran the Mohican Hotel in New London.

Mary P. Venetos, 96, formerly of New London passed away on Tuesday November 15, 2016 at her residence in Stamford, CT.
She was born on February 25, 1920 in Manhattan, NY the daughter of Efstathious and Alexandra Zavras Pravasilis.

Mary had been married on November 3, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Milton Venetos who died on Dec. 25, 1987.
Mrs. Venetos was a hotelier who, for many years, ran the Mohican Hotel in New London. She was also a long- time member of the St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church in New London.

Her survivors include four sons George Venetos of New London, James Venetos of Darien, Stacy Venetos of Albrightsville, PA, John Venetos of Easton, PA, one sister Betty Screpetis of Engelwood, NJ, seven Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren. Mrs. Venetos had also been predeceased by a sister Ethel Marnel and her brother Jim Pravasilis.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday, Nov. 18 at the St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead St, New London. Her burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London. There will be a visiting hour at the church from 1 to 2pm prior to her service.
In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations be directed to the St. Sophia Church or Long Ridge Acute Care, 710 Long Ridge Rd, Stamford, CT.
