Obituary: Mona Kupka, 71, Of New London

Mona (DelaCruz) Kupka, 71, of New London, passed away surrounded by family on August 14, 2018 at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

She was born on March 21, 1947, in New London, the daughter of Clemente J. and Gloria DelaCruz. She attended Waterford High School and was employed by Sheffield Tube for many years. She was last employed by Barry’s Cleaners in New London until she chose retirement.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years Lance Kupka of New London, a son, Richard A. Caron, Jr., of Groton, and a daughter Lori Caron Dahl of Waterford; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Richard III, Brett, Albert IV and Jaime; six great-grandchildren; her father Clemente J. DelaCruz; and five brothers, Clemente Jr., Kenneth, Jeffrey, Mark and David DelaCruz. She was predeceased by her mother Gloria DelaCruz.

Mona loved going for long rides with her husband. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed bingo with her friends, but her greatest joy was being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Calling hours are on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Byles Memorial Home (99 Huntington Street, New London, CT). The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
