Obituary: Sofia Zelepos, 89, of New London

For many years she and her husband operated Crown Pizza in Waterford, and then opened Steve Zelepos Tailoring in New London.

Sofia Zelepos age 89 of New London lost her battle to Parkinson’s disease on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Bayview Healthcare in Waterford.

She was born in Kagri, Russia on October 30, 1927 the daughter of Haralambos and Anastasia Longinidis. Sofia was married to Efstathios ‘Steve’ Zelepos and he survives. For many years she and her husband operated Crown Pizza in Waterford. She and her husband then opened Steve Zelepos Tailoring in New London.

Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Helen Halidis and a son, John Zelepos both of New London a brother, Peter Longinidis of Greece, two granddaughters, Sophia Halidis and Via Papathanasiou-Rivera and two great grandchildren, Isabella and Isaiah Rivera. She was predeceased by her brothers, George and Yianni Longinidis and her sister Panaila Spanos.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 o’clock at St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead St, New London. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held from 10 until the time of the service at St Sophia Church.
