Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation In New London

Police responded to a call reporting a shooting Sunday afternoon. An officer-involved shooting followed at a New London hotel.

NEW LONDON, CT — A man was injured in an officer-involved shooting in New London on Sunday afternoon.

The incident started when police responded to a report of a shooting at the America Best Value Inn on Bayonet Street in New London at 1:52 p.m. An investigation into that report led police to the Clarion Inn on North Frontage Road in search of a man.

Police found the man in one of the Clarion's rooms and "upon contact with New London Officers a shooting ensued," according to police.

The man was then transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the shooting. The man's status was not available.

The Office of the Inspector General is investigating with assistance from the New London State's Attorney Office and the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit.
