The New London Recreations celebrating Olympic Day with the Norwich Splash & Dash

Events one of 2,000+ nationwide events celebrating the birth of the modern Olympic Games

Norwich, CT – The spirit of the Olympic Movement will roll into Norwich, as the New London, Norwich, Ledyard, and Colchester Recreation Departments hosts a Youth Aquathlon in celebration of Olympic Day.

Join us at Mohegan Park on June 25th, 9am for the Norwich Splash and Dash. All levels welcome for this run-swim-run event. This family friendly event followed by a brunch for all race families. The event is available for ages 5-17 years old and all children who finish the race will receive a medal. Awards to the top 2 male and female finishers in each age group. “We are excited to take part in Olympic Day and inspire kids in the Eastern Connecticut community,” said Scott. “The New London Recreation Department is proud to support the Olympic Movement and encourage children to lead healthy, active lives.”

The New London Recreation Departments activity is one of more than 2,000 events taking place nationwide during the month of June. The events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, feature athlete appearances, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences.

Around the world, more than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration. Olympic Day, created in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, focuses on the Olympic values and ideals such as fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship. In the U.S., Olympic Day events range from small gatherings to large, city-wide events.
