Police ID New London Tree Fatality Victim
One person was killed and another was sent to the hospital after a falling tree landed on a vehicle.

NEW LONDON, CT — A person died after a tree fell down and landed on a vehicle in New London Wednesday, according to police. Several trees fell down on Pequot Avenue.
The deceased person has been identified as Arthur Falconi, 65, of New London.
The incident happened in the lot of 186 Pequot Ave. shortly before 10 a.m., police said. One person was declared dead on the scene and a passenger was transported to the hospital for injuries. The second victim didn't appear to sustain life-threatening injuries.

The other victim wasn't identified by police.
A strong storm system blew through New London County Wednesday morning. It caused several trees to be uprooted and multiple streets to be closed. Power outages also affected the area with some New London County towns seeing 20 percent of customers without power at some points.

Eversource is on scene in New London working to resolve power outage issues.
The following New London roads are closed due to downed power lines and/or trees:
- Area of Hall Ave. / Montauk Ave.
- Area of Gardner Ave. / Montauk Ave.
- Area of 891 MontaukArea of Glenwood Ave. / Crocker St.
- Area of 161 Lower Blvd.
- Area of Lower Blvd. / Pequot Ave.
- Area of Ocean Ave. / Eastridge Rd.
Power outage rates were improving for some towns Wednesday afternoon. Ledyard had more than 1,300 customers without power, Waterford 759, Groton 380, New London 609 and North Stonington with 46 as of 12:45 p.m.
