Plans For New Regional School Move Forward In New London

Plans to convert a former New London synagogue into a new regional school have moved another step further, project officials said.

NEW LONDON, CT — Plans to convert the former Beth El synagogue into a new regional school have moved a step further following a site plan approval by the city Planning and Zoning Commission last week, the New London Day reported.

The $5.1 million plan would involve consolidating regional education center LEARN's various special education programs at the converted synagogue. The space would be used to serve students struggling with physical, intellectual, emotional and other challenges.

Officials said final construction documents are currently being prepared by LEARN’s architect. These will be reviewed by local building officials and the state Department of Administrative Services.
