Police Investigate Reports Of Daytime Gunfire In New London

Shots were fired in New London near the courthouse Friday morning, police said.

NEW LONDON, CT — Shots were fired near the parking lot exit from Connecticut Superior Court, according to police.

Police responded to the call at 10:39 a.m. reporting gunshot on Brainard Street.

"Locations in the immediate area were instructed to secure in place as a protective measure until the area was secured by officers," police said in a statement.

Police found evidence to support the initial report of gunfire.

No injuries were reported. The incident "does not appear to be a random act," police said.
