🔎 Purpose: Crews are inspecting overhead catenary wires, electrical lines, and the railway corridor to ensure continued safety and reliability of the rail system.

🗺️ Flight Pattern: The helicopter is moving slowly along the railroad tracks, heading west toward New London and north through Groton toward Mystic, at low altitude. Crew members may be visible taking aerial photos or operating monitoring equipment.

📍 This is routine: Similar low-altitude utility and rail inspections (including Eversource and Amtrak-contracted operations) occur regularly across southeastern Connecticut to monitor grid and track reliability.

There is no emergency, no police activity, and no need to call 911 regarding the helicopter. We appreciate our community's vigilance and thank you for staying informed.
