Police Release New Details In Suspected Murder-Suicide In New London
Police have released more information on a shooting that occurred at a New London apartment on Saturday morning.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police have released new details regarding a suspected murder-suicide shooting at a New London apartment Saturday morning.
The shooting was reported at an apartment in the 100 block of Hawthorne Drive at 9:34 a.m., where police found the man with one gunshot wound and the woman with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.
Both were treated on scene before they were taken to the hospital.

The man, Jamal Brooks, 31, of New London, later died at the hospital.
A 30-year-old woman was injured in the shooting. She is in critical condition at Yale New Haven Hospital, according to police.

Also in the apartment, officers found two children, ages 5 and 9, who were not visibly injured but were taken to the hospital for an evaluation, according to police.
Police were investigating an incident of what appeared to be domestic violence and attempted murder-suicide.
"Domestic violence is a serious issue that we all need to address," police said in a statement. "Today’s incident is another tragic reminder of the perils of domestic violence. It's crucial that we come together as a community to raise awareness, provide support, and work towards preventing such incidents in the future."
Police Chief Brian Wright said in a statement that the department is committed to combating domestic violence. Resources available to domestic violence victims include hotlines, shelters, and counseling services, such as Safe Futures.
