Popular New London Restaurant Temporarily Closed, Put Up For Sale

A popular downtown spot in New London is closed for maintenance and updates. The building is also for sale.

NEW LONDON, CT — Downtown New London's Hot Rod Cafe has been put up for sale, The Day reported.

However, owner Rod Cornish said he is not planning on giving up running the 114 Bank St. establishment. He said he's "exploring options for sale" as the business is entering its slow season.

The 4,158-square-foot building is listed for $1.2 million.

A recent post on the restaurant's social media page announced that the restaurant was temporarily closed for updates and changes. A sign notes that visitors can head to Charlies Place at 26 W. Main St. in Niantic "for delicious food including many of Hot Rod's wing flavors!"

The restaurant has won numerous awards for its Buffalo wings and been featured on the Food Network.
