Renewal Plans for Mitchell Woods Subject of Public Meeting On Wednesday, May 27

Mitchell College, as Trustee of the Alfred Mitchell Woods, will host a public meeting regarding the renewal of the Woods on May 27.

Mitchell College, as Trustee of the Alfred Mitchell Woods, will host a public meeting featuring a proposal for the renewal of the Woods on May 27 at 6:00 p.m. on campus at the Weller Center.

Chad Frost, landscape architecture firm Kent + Frost, will present a master plan designed to improve the recreational and environmental quality of the Woods. The plan restores the pond and meadow areas, while adding new elements such as a cross country loop, pedestrian walkway, and outdoor classroom as well as educational information about the different ecosystems within the 26 acres. The master plan will be broken into smaller projects to be completed as resources become available.

Mitchell College President Janet Steinmayer has made this a priority due to the College’s important connection with the community, and the community’s connection with the College and Mitchell Woods. She highlighted this “beloved New London landmark” in her inauguration speech last week.
