A new list details the net worth of each political figure in the United States. Here is how Connecticut politicians ranked.

Thanks to Roll Call’s new Wealth of Congress Index, we know exactly how much each U.S. Senator and U.S. Representative is worth.

There are 541 members of the United States Congress and Connecticut cracks the top 10.

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Greenwich resident, is No. 7 on the list with a net worth of $66.99 million Last year, the Democratic senator was also No. 7 but his net worth was $62.06 million.
Blumenthal’s net worth largely comes from his wife Cynthia, who is the daughter of New York real estate magnate Peter Malkin, according to Roll Call.
A big reason for Blumenthal’s net worth this year is vacant land in Stamford is now valued at more than $1 million. Blumenthal has $30 million in investments, $23 million in real estate and $11 million in bank accounts, according to Roll Call.
Blumenthal, who served as the state’s attorney general for many years, also collects a $51,000 annual pension.
Here’s how Connecticut’s senators and members of Congress ranked among the 541 members of Congress:
- Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Connecticut, No. 75: Net worth of $4.13 million
- Rep. Elizabeth Esty, D-Connecticut, No. 86: Net worth of $3.18 million
- Rep. Jim Himes, D-Connecticut, No. 95: Net worth of $2.8 million
- Rep. Joe Courtney, D-Connecticut, No. 325: Net worth of $220,000
- Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Connecticut, No. 463: Net worth of $-140,000
- Rep. John B. Larson, D-Connecticut, No. 480: Net worth of $-210,000
Other notes:
- DeLauro’s net worth decreased slightly from $4.29 million in 2014 to $4.13 million now
- Esty’s net worth remained the same, at $3.18 million
- Himes’ net worth dropped slightly from $3.05 million in 2014 to $2.8 million in 2015
- Courtney’s net worth increased from $170,000 in 2014 to $220,000 in 2015
- Murphy’s net worth was $-160,000 in 2014 and in 2015 it’s $140,000
- Larson’s net worth remained uncharged at $-210,000
Roll Call does states that there are limitations on congressional financial disclosure forms. Lawmakers’ houses for instance don’t count as assets.
