NEW LONDON, CT — A school violence threat circulating on social media has been determined to be a hoax, according to a police statement. The threat was brought to the attention of administrators at New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus and Bennie Dover Jackson Multi-Magnet Middle School on Friday morning.

School officials immediately contacted police. Police investigated the threat and determined it was "an internet hoax which has been found in other areas of the country."

Police said the incident in New London was identical to one in Florida. A school shooting threat was shared across South Florida that investigators believe is a hoax, according to WPBF-25 News. The threat mentions a date but does not mention a school, county, or state.
