Senator Formica Attends 'Family Hearing Day'

HARTFORD – State Senator Paul Formica (Republican-East Lyme) attended the 5th Annual Arc Connecticut Family Hearing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 21. The annual event, sponsored by the state’s I/DD caucus, brings approximately 1,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to the State Capitol to advocate for policies that provide needed support to the most vulnerable.

Formica has been an advocate for I/DD families, and thanked the many individuals who came to the Capitol to share their stories.

“A core function of government is caring for our most vulnerable citizens and ensuring that proper access to care and support is available to the neediest residents. Budgeting is about priorities and I look forward to working this year to make sure the I/DD population remains a top priority here in Connecticut,” Formica said in a release. “I am so thankful to all the families who made it up to the State Capitol for this important event. Hearing directly from these individuals who are impacted by disabilities and their families is the best way to fully understand the issues and comprehend the true impact of policies on people. What I learn from these families helps guide my decision making as a state lawmaker.”
